Chávez, coup leader and killer

21 years ago today Hugo Chávez and his followers set out to overthrow the democratically elected government of Venezuela by force. Among their heroic exploits that day was an attempt to murder President Carlos Andrés Pérez and his family. Dozens were killed in the fighting, among them staff at the door of the VTV television station, shot out of hand by  rebels trying to take it over.  Had Chávez and his gang been properly punished for what they did the Venezuelan people would have been spared  a  a lot of later suffering.
